All Gas, No Brakes With These Action-Packed AMVs

Animated music videos (AMV) are my favorite type. Although A-Ha’s rotoscoped “Take On Me” is the first AMV that I can remember watching (back in the 80s), the genre has been potentially been around since the 1960s. Recently there has been a resurgence in music artists choosing to animate their work as opposed to using actors… And I’m all for it. After recently stumbling upon “Fight Dirty,” I was reminded that I have a huge playlist of other music videos that I occasionally peruse. Feeling selfish, i decide to share a few of my choicest selections with y’all in hopes that we all discover something new to love. Enjoy!
“Fight Dirty” Salvatore Ganacci
Animated by Studio Goono and Truba Animation Productions, the video premiered in August of ’21 and as of this writing, has 6.5 million views and counting. The 4-minute film starts off strong as the protagonist gets jumped out of music artist Salvatore Ganacci’s gang. Shortly thereafter, she gets a hand in fighting her way back into the cohort before having to join forces with Ganacci himself to escape new peril. It’s shonen anime through and through with fluid time ramping, dynamic fights and classic, 90's-era power and destruction.
“Mr. FEAR” SIAMÉS
Argentinian rock band, SIAMÉS earns a place on this list with it’s science fiction tale, “Mr. FEAR.” Animated by the most excellent Rudo Company, this short premiered back in October of 2018. With a strong 39 million views on Youtube, this film has a color gradient style that separates it from the traditional cel-shaded anime that inspired it and the other AMVs on this list.
